WASH KANANAN TUVALAN TURKEN YABAN MATA ZUBIN WASI WAKO KIN STATA

Abstract

This paper, titled “Wash Kananan Tuvalan Turken Yaban Mata Zubin Wası Wako Kin Stata,” examines selected categories of praise songs. Mamman Shata performs for various women with the intention of praising them at different levels, including good character (manners), popularity, origin, and generosity, among others. In the selected songs analysed for this study, Shata praises nine or more women. These include Gosh ta Dangude, Assibin Danmusa, Indon Musawa (who were from the same town), Hajiya Innocence Diyar Amadu, Hauwa Mai Tuwo (the wife of Lado), Gwamma Malama, and several others.
