ENHANCING THE NOLLYWOOD MOVIE NARRATIVES USING COMPUTER-GENERATED VISUAL EFFECTS: A STUDY OF IJE OMIMI IKENNA (2009)
Abstract
The Nigerian movie industry, popularly known as Nollywood has grown in recent times through the conscientious effort of the stakeholders to bring it to the fore. Modernism and new technological advancements lead to the enhanced production quality of most recent Nollywood movies in Nigeria. Visual effect becomes pertinent when some scenes can not be performed by actors, for instance, stopping speeding bullets. This research projected the efforts of Nigerian filmmakers put incorporating visual effects into their movies, to elaborate a sense of vision. This essay employs case study and content analysis approaches of the qualitative research method for realizing the objectives. Ije omimi Ikenna, a fourteen-year old Igbo Igbo-themed movie was used as a paradigm. The study concluded that computer-generated visual effects can influence the impact on quality of movies in the Igbo genre.
