Abstract

The Ibadan Journal of Music Studies (IJMS) serves as a dynamic forum for scholarly engagement with music, exploring its rich intersections with a wide array of disciplines. This includes—but is not limited to—anthropology, history, sociology, performance studies, gender studies, religious studies, education, cultural studies, media and film studies, philosophy, political science, and African studies. The journal encourages diverse methodological approaches, theoretical frameworks, and critical perspectives, all aimed at exploring music as both a profound cultural expression and a dynamic social force. IJMS welcomes submissions from any of the sub-disciplines within music studies, such as musicology, music education, ethnomusicology, popular music, and music theory. Additionally, we highly encourage multi-disciplinary research that establishes links between music and other arts and humanities disciplines.
