Abstract

The printed book is a vital tool for economic, social and cultural development of societies. It is an irreplaceable means of information, transmission, critical reflection and education. This paper discussed the concept of Yoruba language, its introduction into the Nigerian School Curriculum, quality control issues and textbook production in Nigeria and recommended some guidelines for promoting quality control in Yoruba language textbooks under the Universal Basic Education Programme (UBE).
