COMBATING AGITATION FOR SECESSION FOR NATIONAL AND RESOURCE CONTROLTHROUGH MUSIC

Abstract

In recent time, agitation for secession and resource control has become a general phenomenon in all geo-political zones in Nigeria. This phenomenon has remained unaddressed for quite sometimes in the history of the nation’s democracy, and the overbearing consequence of this scenario has led to retardation of national development. The over lingering of this situation could degenerate into total breakup of the various segments that constitute the Nigeria state. In this regard, this paper discusses the instrument of music through proper musical education of the older and younger generation, societal enlightenments, creativity and musical tourism in combating the agitation for secession and resource control. The paper suggested the effective application of music as a tool for enhancing national growth and development.
